Climatic conditions in July were unfavorable for hops until the middle of the month. In the second half of the month, the temperatures dropped and the long-awaited heavier rainfalls also arrived. In some areas, there were strong storms with torrential rains and hails that damaged approx. 106 ha. 12 ha in the Zatec region, 27 ha in the Ustek region and 67 ha in Trsice.

2. Vegetation stage

The growth of hops has almost stopped due to the lack of rainfall. The growths are weaker and most of them are only up to the top of the structure. The setting of fruitful pods and flowers is good, and the hops also started to head in the normal period. The harvest of the Saaz semi-early red-bine could be average, despite the weak growth of the stands.

3. Pests and diseases

The health condition of the hops is good. Chemical protection of hops was managed against animal pests as hop aphid and red spider mite. Due to the heavy rainfall at the end of the month, there is increased pressure to protect against fungal diseases.
