Climatic conditions were very favorable for hops in July. The average temperature was only 0,9 ° C higher than the 30-year average and was balanced practically the whole month. Rainfalls was above average for the whole month. Compared to the long-term average, it rained 53,8 mm more, which is 177,5 %. Compared to last year, when it rained only 12,6 mm, it is 10 times more.

2. Vegetation stage

The development of vegetation is very good due to above-average rainfalls. Flowering started in the second half of the month. The large majority of stands grew to the top of the construction. Only the areas, that were affected by heavy rainfalls and hailstorm at the end of June are about 50 -100 cm below to the top of the construction. Flowering is very nice and the development into cones proves to be very good. It is very difficult to make any estimates at this time. Yields are likely to be in the range 0,7 - 1,5 tons per hectare for the variety Saaz, mainly due to very large areas damaged (aprox. 900 ha) during torrential rains and hail storm in June. For other varieties Sladek, Premiant and Agnus, the yield could be around 2,5 tons.

3. Pests and diseases

The health condition of the hops is good. Chemical protection of hops was managed without problems as treatment against animal pests (hop aphid, red spider mite) as well as fungal diseases. Due to the rainy weather, the protection against hop perenospora is demanding and carried out very intensively with the help of authorized products.
