The weather in January to April was significantly colder as last year and colder than long-term average. The rainfalls were generally above the long-term average, but April was almost without rainfalls. As last year, April was the driest, but also the coldest in the period last 80 years.
2. Spring works and vegetation stage
The development of the weather allowed normaly course of spring work. The cutting of hops began in mid-March for the hybrid varieties Sládek, Premiant and Agnus.The variety Saaz started on the end of March. The cold weather in April slowed down the growth of vegetation by 1 to 2 weeks. The training of hybrid hops began around April 25th. The variety Saaz was training ca. about 14 days later.
