In June temperatures were average. Rainfalls were very abundant, and more than the double compared to the 30 years average. The period of steady rainfalls began on the May 26th, 2013 and lasted until the June 10th, 2013. In this period it rained over 150 mm, resulting in flooding that has also affected hopgardens in the Saaz region and the Auscha region. By the information available the damages on the hopgardens due to floods and rains concern the area 390 ha that is 205 ha in the Auscha area and 185 ha in Saaz area.

2. Vegetation stage

The plants, that weren't affected by flooding, are on the whole as in good condition as in terms of growth and health. More than one third of the hops reached the top of the construction. Other hops are approximately 1-2 m under the top of hopgardens constructions. However, it still takes elongation growth, and therefore it is realistic that these areas will grow up to the top of the construction.

3. Pests and diseases

The weather created favorable conditions for the emergence and spread of downy mildew, so chemical protection was directed mainly against the disease. Then chemical protection was applied against aphids and red spider mite. Overall, the hops are in a very good condition, only the areas that were affected by the floods or torrential rainfall (390 ha), are considerably devastated (hops are damp off).
