The weather was under long-term average as far as both - temperature as well as rainfalls - regards in the first four months this year, as you can see in the figure, see above „basic weather conditions datas".
The covering of snow was unusually high, it last out to the end of February and with a spring thaw the most of soil moisture soaked into a soil. It could be better for a soil water and should raise the level of groundwater.
2. Spring works and vegetation stage
The spring works are continuing fluently according to the weather in April. Due to a dry weather in April the growers could start and continue with cutting of hops according to their idea. By the end of April at the hopgardens were instaled wires. Due to a cold weather in April was trained just a some area of hybrid varieties. First of all it was trained in an area in a lower altitude. The start of training of the main variety Saaz we estimate in term from 6. 5. 2010 till 8. 5. 2010
We recommend in this term (the end of April) make a protection differently, according to actual appearance of alfalfa snout beetle. In the case of downy mildew we prefer to treat trained hybrid varieties and virus-free hops, where appeared a spiky groynes with a special protection Aliette 80 WP.
